House Cleaning Tips (Do’s & Don’ts)!
House Cleaning Tip #1 – Don’t use paper towels or napkins. Rings and fingernails can break through and scratch the surface you are cleaning. Buy a set of papercloths or use old T-shirts.
House Cleaning Tip #2 – Do clean as you go. Are you taking a bath? Make sure to wipe down the sides of the tub to get rid of any soap residue. After husking those ears of corn, pick up and throw out the silk and husks before dinner.
House Cleaning Tip #3 – Don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of time to clean. It’s amazing how much you can get done in 15 minutes. If you just give yourself some goals, one room or two closets.
House Cleaning Tip #4 – Do use the dishwasher instead of hand washing. Using an Energy Star-qualified dishwasher instead of washing by hand can save you nearly 5,000 gallons of water a year.
House Cleaning Tip #5 – Don’t expose yourself unnecessarily to pesticides. Opt for organic cleaners and do not spray pesticides indoors or outdoors if a pest problem isn’t present.
House Cleaning Tip #6 – Do clean from up to down. Any dust that may be in the corners of ceilings or above cabinets can be moved towards the ground when cleaning, so if you mop your floors then get the duster out, you will have to clean the floor again. Start with the tops of blinds, cabinets and work your way down to windows, furniture, and then, the floors.
